This Level 2 Refresher Course leads to the licence-linked refresher qualification required for Close Protection Operatives renewing their SIA licence from April 2026 onwards. This course replaces the previous 'Top-Up' training requirement and is designed to refresh and update your safety-critical skills and knowledge to meet the latest SIA standards. Delivered at our accredited training centre in Brentwood, Essex, this essential training ensures you remain fully licensed and compliant with the Security Industry Authority (SIA) regulations. Please Note: Successfully completing the qualification does not automatically guarantee the issue or renewal of an SIA licence. SIA licence applications and renewals remain subject to the Security Industry Authority's eligibility and licensing requirements. Important: This is a refresher course and is only suitable for learners who already hold the required Level 3 Close Protection qualification. Duration: 3 Days in classroom with pre-course learning Timings: 09:00 – 16:30 Location: Close Protection Academy, Brentwood Assessment: E-assessments (multiple-choice questions) and practical skills assessments, with immediate results for e-assessments and re-assessment opportunities where permitted. Who Is This Course For? Close Protection Operatives who need to renew their SIA licence and are able to complete the required pre-course learning before attending the classroom-based training. On Successful Completion: Learners who successfully complete all required assessments will be awarded the Highfield Level 2 Award for Close Protection Operatives in the Private Security Industry (Refresher).

Entry requirements
Learners must be 18+ years old; currently hold a valid SIA Close Protection Licence; communicate fluently in spoken and written English; hold a valid Level 3 First Aid at Work qualification or SIA-accepted equivalent (e.g. FREC3) with at least 12 months remaining; complete all required pre-course self-study including ACT online training before the first day; wear comfortable clothing suitable for practical scenario-based training; have access to a laptop or tablet with an up-to-date web browser. Inform Close Protection Academy of any injury/medical condition before attending. Attend all sessions and complete all assessments.
